Summary

In Chapter 21, as Iris thinks about the two texts she got she decides there is no way they came from the same person unless that person is a sociopath. Her mother interrupts her thoughts with the news that James will have to leave to go home. Iris encourages the rest of her family to go home as well. She says she plans to go back to work so there is no use in them staying around. Later that evening, Big Jim explains Iris’ new alarm system to her. He points out the panic buttons, including two behind the nightstands of her bed, that have to be pushed for three seconds before they alert the alarm company.
