Summary

The Magic Thief is a fantasy novel written by Sarah Prineas. The novel is told mainly by its protagonist, Connwaer, in the first person. Short sections at the end of some chapters are told by the wizard Nevery Flinglas.

The novel opens late one night when Connwaer (Conn), a pickpocket, is roaming the streets of a dangerous neighborhood known as the Twilight. He is hungry and debating how he will get money for his next meal. Suddenly, he hears an old man with a cane coming down the street and decides he will pick his pocket. Quickly, Conn steals the contents of the man’s pocket and retreats to the alley. He finds the man’s pocket didn’t contain money, but a small, heavy stone that begins to glow.
