Summary

In Part III, Chapter 1, Giovanna envied Nella’s entanglement with Mariano.

In Chapter 2, Giovanna avoided Vittoria, fearing she would accidentally tell her about Nella and Mariano. Eventually she forced herself to ask Nella if Angela and Ida could visit Vittoria. Giovanna was happy to be doing whatever she wanted.

In Chapter 3, Vittoria and Giovanna arrived at Angela and Ida's. Though Giovanna did not want Vittoria to meet Costanza, Vittoria ignored her. Giovanna watched as Vittoria disingenuously praised Costanza's appearance, touching every piece of her jewelry. Vittoria warned Costanza to be careful someone did not steal her bracelet.
