Nathan

Nathan is the oldest brother and protagonist of the novel. Nathan lives on his own on a piece of land gifted to him by his ex-father-in-law as a wedding present. However, the land was poor quality, and he found himself stressed out trying to operate the farm. This caused stress on his relationship with his now ex-wife, Jacqui- a plan he believes was crafted by his ex-father-in-law to break them up.

Nathan is an isolated soul. He lives in a house by himself, miles from anyone else, and is banned from the local town for leaving his ex-father-in-law to die when his car broke down in the outback.
