Point of View

The novel is written in third-person, but limited to Tsunami's perspective. The limitation means the reader does not know any information that Tsunami does not have. For example, the other four dragonets are taken away soon after the five arrive in the Summer Palace. Coral assures Tsunami the four are comfortable with a place to sleep and food. Tsunami does not see them for an entire day while she is busy with other things. When a storm begins, she rushes to find them and discovers Clay is chained in a chamber that is rapidly flooding.
