This is where Shinyun and Ragnor go after stealing the Book of the White from Magnus in New York, prompting Alec, Magnus, and a group of Shadowhunters to follow. The first attempt to create a portal into the city fails because a Prince of Hell has been experimenting with portals. Clary opens the portal they use, and they land in a huge, crowded shopping center. The city has some specific settings, including the Shadowhunter Institute, which is where the Shadowhunters of the city base their activities. There is also a nice hotel in a historic building, which Magnus chooses for the group until they travel to Diyu.
