Alexander "Alec" Llightwood

Alexander "Alec" Llightwood is a Shadowhunter who is involved in a romantic relationship with Magnus. Together, they are raising a son, a toddler warlock named Max. Alec is a strong character who has matured over the course of this extended series of Shadowhunter novels. He initially refused to acknowledge that he was gay for fear his family would not accept it. By this point, he is living in an open relationship with Magnus with plans to marry, but only if there comes a point where the marriage will be openly acknowledged by Shadowhunters. He is comfortable showing his love for Magnus in any situation, and makes the point that he now lives with Magnus rather than with his family at the New York Shadowhunter Institute. His parents are Maryse and Robert Lightwood, and Isabelle is his sister. Jace is his parabatai.
