Part 2: Chapters 25-30 Summary

In Chapter 25, Hatter Madigan tracks down Charles Dodgson and demands to know where Alyss is. Dodgson shows Hatter an announcement in the paper for Alyss's impending nuptials and tells him she is at Kensington Palace. However, when Hatter attempts to force his way into Kensington Palace, he is accidentally shot in the shoulder.

In Chapter 26, the Alyssians are struggling with a lack of morale after thirteen years of fighting. Therefore, when Redd offers the Alyssians some land to form a country of their own in exchange for an end to rebel activity, they agree to talk, unaware that Jack of Diamonds, who pretends to be loyal to the Alyssians is actually in business for himself. However, Jack of Diamonds is not aware that the Alyssians have a backup plan should Redd fail to keep her promises.
