Summary

In Chapter 8, the first section is titled “Emmett.” Emmett planned to drop Duchess and Woolly at the bus station in Omaha and then head back to California. He believed that even with the detour, he and Billy would arrive in California in three days. In Nebraska, Emmett agreed when Duchess asked if he could pay a quick visit to a place where he had once attended school. When Duchess was gone longer than his allotted five minutes, Emmett decided to go and check on him.

Emmett realized they were parked at the back of the building and saw where Duchess had broken a window to get inside.
