Summary

Chapter 7 is titled “A Creeping Frost.” The next morning, Faith intercepts the servant named Jeanne Bissette before she can deliver a tea tray. She finds her father slumped over his desk in the library and is relieved when he is alive. She assures him that no one else entered. He is disturbed by his writing, saying that he has given everything for this information and that it does not make sense. Erasmus discovers that Faith lied when she said Erasmus ordered them to send for the doctor to tend the injured boy. To Faith's surprise, Erasmus keeps up that lie.
