Section 8, Pages 181 - 202 Summary

Captain Nbebi carefully avoids patrols as he weaves the Land-Rover towards the border. They have few supplies and little water. Timon Nbebi is in territory unfamiliar to him, but Craig has been through the area with Tungata years previously. They hear on the radio their escape is now known. Air patrols are dispatched, and soldiers rerouted to intercept them. Timon's expression is tense when he hears the command to kill them on sight. Craig acts as navigator and it isn't long before he sees the telltale dust devils about five miles behind them. He is so busy watching the chasing vehicle that he doesn't notice the anthill in front of them until it is too late. They hit it hard, and lose precious time while they get free of the sand trap.
