Magic

The main characters of this novel are magical beings; there are vampires, werewolves, witches and necromancers. Interestingly, they live in the world as normal people and participate in everyday activities such as having jobs. For example, Robert, a vampire, is a bouncer. Richard, a werewolf, is a teacher. Tammy Reynolds, a witch, is a police officer.

Many examples of magical ability appear throughout the novel. Sabin cuts Jean-Claude and Anita in her office with his laughter. Dominic Dumare helps Anita lay the zombies and vampires to rest after she raises them during the formation of the triumvirate. He also performs the ceremony for Robert's death, as well as prepares to perform Sabin's healing ceremony, using Robert's heart, which entails killing Jean-Claude and Richard. Damian bespells Karen at Danse Macabre. Detective Tammy Reynolds tries to read Anita's aura. Anita...
