Chapter 43

Mark shudders at the fact that he almost killed another human being. He feels as if he has lost his mind for a moment, and shudders. Mark realizes his head has been hurting more often lately, and that this rage that had taken hold of him meant that he had the virus, the Flare.

Chapter 44

Despite realizing he must be infected, Mark surprises himself by being calm. He knew that Deedee had been infected two months before, and was alive and sane. Mark realizes that somewhere, someone has to have an antidote, otherwise unleashing a virus wouldn’t make sense. Mark then joins Alec in the cockpit. But a man has climbed up on the Berg, and has used a hammer to shatter some of the glass. Mark goes to handle him, but is almost pulled out. Alecuses the hammer to knock...
