Chapter 13 Summary

Ronny Lawton is wanted by the police the next morning, but he is nowhere to be found. Word has gotten out about the head in the bunker, and cops have come by to question Bill and Sam and Ed. All three men were able to corroborate each other's story, so there are no further questions for them. Bill goes along with Pete in his police cruiser to the scene of the crime. A small crowd of people is gathered by the road waiting to hear or see some grim news. Linda Carter is there shooting footage for the evening news. Her long legs and her slim body in her expensive suit just don't look right at this gruesome crime scene. She is not afraid, however, to jump right into the action.
