Chapters 1- 8 Summary

In Chapter 1, Jenny Humphreys is on her way by train to attend Waverly Academy in Rhinecliff, New York. Wavery is an elite boarding school for the wealthy. An encounter with a boy in his twenties on the train reminds Jenny of her old school, Constance Billard, and the events which bring her to Waverly. After spending the night with her brother's old band, The Raves, at the Plaza Hotel in the city, the press went wild with the story that Jenny was sleeping with all of the members of the band, including her own brother -none of which is true. Jenny has also decided that, in her new school and in her new life, she will become a new person. The boy, Sam, asks about Jenny's life, and Sam explains he is attending Bard.
