Summary

In Chapter 2, Sheeran returned from war with what was probably an undiagnosed case of PTSD. He had trouble sleeping because of his nightmares and chose to self-medicate with red wine, his drink of choice. He still would not follow the direction of others so he had trouble keeping a job. His mother tried to help by getting him a job interview with the state police, but Sheeran chose not to put the effort needed into passing the physical. He claimed that what he had seen in the war made him want to take what was offered instead of working to get things.

Sheeran married Mary Leddy, even though her parents did not like him. The newlyweds lived with Mary’s parents while Sheeran continued working at odd jobs. Sheeran finally got a job loading trucks at a meatpacking plant, allowing him and Mary...
