Summary

In Chapter 1, as they entered the playground, Kalisha warned Luke not to talk about Maureen because “they” (79) might be listening. Luke noticed two cameras were in bad need of cleaning. Kalisha introduced Luke to both Iris and George.

George asked Luke if he was TK positive. Iris explained that “pos” (83) indicated the kids who could read minds or move things when they wanted to do so. Those who could not were the “pinks” (83). They were given more shots and more tests. Luke could not understand why they had been kidnapped because of what they all considered minor abilities.
