Summary

Part Two opens with a quote saying that they had been sure of themselves, but they were lost. In the chapter titled "Sometimes in the Night," Sal and his father go to pick up Sam. As her mother is on a date, Sam stays with them that night. Sal cannot sleep. He wonders what his father will tell Sylvia and he decides that he hates Eddie and wants to hurt him. Then Sal wishes he were like his father, but he is not even an artist. He then thinks he is like his biological father and he hates that idea. He gets up and finds his father smoking.
