Summary

In Chapter 33, Phoebe recalled that the first time she ever played piano for anyone else was to audition for a prominent soloist who cried while Phoebe played. At Edwards, Phoebe began spending time in a local graveyard frequented by John Leal. The rest of the chapter is an extensive list of names of people who died as children.

Chapter 34 is told from Will’s perspective. Will tried calling Phoebe’s father in Los Angeles, who told him that Phoebe was at Edwards. When Phoebe failed to get in touch with Will on his birthday, he visited an official at Edwards and told him his concerns about Phoebe, Jejah, and their potential involvement with the terrorist attacks. Soon after, Will’s apartment was raided by the FBI and he was taken in for questioning.
