Summary

Selin has made plans to travel to Hungary via Paris, where she will stay with Svetlana and her aunt; Svetlana plans to continue homewards to Belgrade for the summer. She meets Svetlana at JFK airport, where she is with her friend Bill and his girlfriend, Robin. Selin imagines she sees Ivan everywhere, though she has not spoken to him for weeks. Suddenly she realizes Ivan really is in the airport, and when she speaks to him, she finds he is also flying to Paris, where he will meet his girlfriend. They spend much of the flight talking together and, despite their previous decision to cut ties, they arrange to meet up in Hungary.
