Summary

Chapter 49 is titled “Miranda” and reverts to New Year's Day. Miranda is humiliated that Doug turned her down and she goes to Emma's cottage. She allows Miranda inside and Miranda realizes that she should be kinder to Emma, the one person who is always there for her. Miranda asks for whiskey and writing paper. She is so angry as she begins to write that she tears the paper.

Chapter 50 is titled “Heather” and returns to January 2. Doug has shot Iain and now he pulls Iain off Heather. Doug is frantic until Heather assures him she is not hurt. Doug assures Iain it is just a shoulder wound and that he will survive. Heather asks why Iain killed “the guest,” and suggests she saw him with the drugs. Iain insists that he is not a murderer. Iain then reveals that he saw the murder...
