Summary

Chapter 7 is titled “Emma” and is still set on December 30. Emma is desperate for the trip to be perfect. Giles questions Heather about having a train station in such a remote location, and she says a previous laird insisted on it, and got his way. The station became a common site of smuggling various items, and some felt the laird was also a smuggler. Emma makes a comparison between Julien and Mark, saying both are sometimes socially inept, saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. Julien, however, makes jokes to take the sting out which makes people continue to like him while Mark does not. Heather gives them an overview of the rules and the area.
