Lusibari

The novel is set in the Sundarban islands in the Bay of Bengal and most of the action takes place on the island of Lusibari. Kanai travels there to visit his aunt Nilima, who runs the Badabon Trust. He has not been to the island since he was ten-years-old but his aunt wants him to read a notebook left to him by his late uncle. The island is also home to Fokir, Moyna, and Tutul. And, at the end of the novel, Piya returns to live and work there.

Garjontola

The island of Garjontola also features prominently. Piya and Fokir follow the Orcaella dolphins there and visit a shrine to Bon Bibi.
