Summary

Chapter 6 – The Housekeeper and Root drop the Professor off at home for the evening. It is apparent the Professor has enjoyed himself, but now has a fever. The Housekeeper and Root decide to spend the night to care for the Professor. The Housekeeper notes how thin and frail the Professor appears without a suit on, which makes her realize that the Professor pursues mathematics at the expense of his own health. Around noon the next day, the Professor wakes up but remembers nothing of the day before. A few days later, the Professor returns to normal. A short time later, the Director of Akebono calls the Housekeeper in because there has been a complaint filed against her for spending the night at the Professor’s house. The Housekeeper explains what happened, and that the Professor was ill. The Director explains the Professor’s sister-in-law...
