Chapters 22 and 23 Summary

Chapter 22: Bonne Nuit

After a long shower, Lucky sits on Brigitte's lap. Brigitte's arms wrap around her. Brigitte tells Lucky that she had her papers gathered together so that she could show it to the judge in order to legally adopt her. She took the course on-line so she could open a cafe in Hard Pan. Brigitte tells Lucky that if anyone ever tried to hurt her she would rip their heart out. Tears come to Lucky's eyes. In French, she tells Brigitte good night - "Bonne nuit, Brigitte."

Chapter 23: By and By

Lucky still had her job at the Museum but there is a lot less debris from the meetings now that Brigitte's cafe is open. After Lucky plugs up the whole that opened onto the meeting room, she could not hear a sound.
