Chapter 8: Snake

Brigitte returns home early and spots the bugs on the counter. Brigitte doesn't like bugs and really doesn't like them on the counter but she doesn't seem to be upset. Lucky sees that Brigitte has a letter from her father in her hands. She recognizes the writing. Every month he sends a check but never a letter with it. Sometimes Lucky asks if her father sent her a letter but the answer is always "no." Brigitte is disappointed that, as usual, he didn't send enough money. Lucky offers to throw in her $25.56 she saved from her job but Brigitte shrugs her off.

The phone rings. It is Lincoln wanting to meet Lucky at Short Sammy's to see in what unique way he plans to cook the government-issued food. Just then, Lucky hears Brigitte scream. She runs outside and sees...
