Summary

The novel opens with a map of Pyrrhia, the land where this novel takes place. The next section, A NightWing Guide to the Dragons of Pyrrhia has one page for each of the seven dragon tribes: SandWings, SeaWings, RainWings, NightWings, IceWings, MudWings, and SkyWings. Each page includes an image and basic information, such as descriptions and alliances in the ongoing war. The next section includes the poem prophesying the end of a war that has been ongoing for years.

In the Prologue, a NightWing named Morrowseer is talking with a SeaWing named Nautilus. Morrowseer issued the prophecy. Nautilus is a member of the Talons of Peace, a group dedicated to fulfilling the prophecy.
