Part 2: Chapters 18-20 Summary
In chapter eighteen, Aerin packs her things on Talat's back to face her uncle. Luthe gives Aerin a sword, called Gonturan, that he found many years before. Aerin heads north, leaving Luthe alone in his compound.
As she travels, Aerin becomes aware that someone or something is following her. One night Aerin calls out to the stranger and is surprised to have a pack of folstza, cat-like creatures, join her. The folstza follow Aerin and Talat as they travel the next day, making poor Talat nervous. However, Aerin believes they are there to help. The following day, Aerin and her band of soldiers are joined by a pack of yerig, dog-like creatures. Normally the two sets of animals would not get along, but these two packs seem content to co-exist at Aerin's side. Eventually Aerin and her army reach...
