Summary

In “Chapter 10: 2008: The Silver Surfer,” Cyril and his birth mother travel to Goleen. It is the first time she has visited her hometown since the priest, Father Monroe, denounced her as a whore from the pulpit and exiled her. She shows Cyril the gravestones of his family members in the churchyard, including one for her uncle by marriage, Kenneth O'Ríafa, Cyril's father. She says she does not blame Kenneth for her exile, as she was as attracted to him as he was to her. Instead, she blames Father Monroe, the hypocrite who sought to ruin her despite fathering two unacknowledged, illegitimate children of his own.
