Summary

Chapter 25 returns to Rognvald's first-person narration as he awakens to find Harald's mother Ronhild standing over him. She tells him that death does not want him since he has survived so many times now. Ragnvald aks Ronhild is she has seen any visions of his fate to which she replies that she does not have to have a vision to see that he will kill himself if he trusts himself too much and his friends too little. Ragnvald asks again if she has seen anything because he is not frightened of knowing. Even though she advises him to remain ignorant, Ronhild tells Ragnvald that he will give up everything for Harald and once he has done that, he will also give his life for Harald.
