Old versus New Media

Stamper uses the theme of old versus new media as a pivotal question in the novel and around which to construct the plot. The theme of old versus new media sets up challenges for Cal to overcome. This theme also raises the moral questions surrounding the power of media. In the end, Stamper wants to prove to the young reader that there is not necessarily a right or wrong way to cover the news (old versus new), but that reporters should not take advantage of people and their vulnerabilities but should have journalistic integrity. He also proves that more news options are better than less, and that by working together and covering the work, everyone can be successful in their goals of engaging the public.
