Preying on Vulnerability

Through the character of Rose, The Good Sister examines how an individual can prey on the vulnerabilities of others.

As a child, Rose took advantage of the innocence of a young boy named Billy and the autistic vulnerability of Fern to accomplish Billy's death. Billy and his father Daniel were on a camping trip with Rose, Fern, and Nina. No one, including the adults, sensed that Rose was actually dangerous, and that made Billy vulnerable. Fern was never able to fully comprehend the situation because she is on the autistic spectrum. Rose was able to manipulate an event where Fern held Billy underwater.
