Summary

In Chapter 4, Lenore and Charlie drove to get Kelly’s parents. Ken Coin, the DA, was working on getting a search warrant for their home. On the drive to Kelly’s house, Lenore insisted that Charlie drink a Coke to help with her shock. When Charlie did not immediately comply, Lenore threatened to pop her on the leg.

Charlie worried that Ken Coin would try his best to get a death sentence for Kelly. She remembered that back in 1989, Ken had shot Daniel Culpepper, Zach’s brother, seven times in the chest. Ken, then a policeman, had gone to Daniel’s home after Gamma’s body was found. Daniel reached for his gun when Ken kicked open the door of the trailer. The Culpeppers claimed Daniel was innocent but the revolver he had was the one that had been used to shoot Sam...
