Chapter XII, Jek; Chapter XIII, Challenges; Chapter XIV, Scrolls Summary

In Chapter XII, Jek, Chade is Tom's great uncle. Tom meets with Chade and the Queen. The Six Duchies dragons are treated as tales, but then everyone believes they are real. The Queen is not sure about Tintaglia, but they decide this dragon exists. Tom leaves the meeting and goes to Golden's chambers. He meets a striking woman named Jek, who keeps asking Tom about Amber. But Tom does not know who Amber is. Jek infers that Golden and Tom are gay lovers. Golden enters and dismisses Tom. Tom listens outside the door. Jek keeps a secret for Golden. Jek says Golden is in love with Tom and Golden agrees. Tom is furious because Golden infers they are gay lovers. He feels betrayed.
