Summary

“What Ryan Did” summarizes what happened after Ryan picked up Georgie from the street. The narration switches between Ryan and Georgie’s point of view with each section as the scene progresses. Georgie brings him to her place, assuming he wants to use her services as a prostitute. Ryan is clearly angry when Georgie brings up their shared history, and places a gun on the table, telling her that Jimmy wants her dead. Ryan then decides, “People do what they have to do. But not me. Fuck this, not me!” (369). He tells Georgie to leave the country or he will kill her.
