Summary

Harry is very drunk at the yacht club when the boy in the ripped white T-shirt asks Harry to come with him and help Pilgrim, who is in trouble. Harry is too drunk to fully comprehend what is happening until he sees Pilgrim lying on the floor with a plastic bag taped over her head. He rips the bag open and frees Pilgrim from the duct tape around her wrists and ankles. Then, Harry finds Koppler in Pilgrim’s bathroom, near death and bleeding from his wrists. He stays with Koppler until he dies, cleans the body, and removes it from Pilgrim’s home. He has to call Gloria to help him move the body, and she admits to speaking with Koppler about Pilgrim’s car accident. Gloria sympathized with Koppler’s loss because she, herself, lost a son named James...
