Summary

The chapters in this section alter between Pilgrim’s time in Arnau and her exploration in Tanga, Tanzania. The chapters related to Arnau take place from April 19 to April 21 while the chapters related to Pilgrim’s time in Tanga are from May 29 to May 31, when she is murdered in her home.

Pilgrim’s unwanted visitor continues to visit her home in Arnau. First, she finds a roll of duct tape under her kitchen sink, which has been placed there by someone else. Then, she comes home to find her bedroom door is closed. Lying on her bed is a plastic bag, duct tape, and a piece of red cloth with yellow and white flowers. Pilgrim leaves the apartment and Arnau.

In Tanga, Gloria randomly decides to take Pilgrim sightseeing. She drives her to nearby caves but leaves Pilgrim to go in alone...
