Relationships

Relationships are a main theme in the book, especially those involving Blomkvist.

Mikael Blomkvist and Erika Berger are in an odd relationship. It is particularly odd because Berger is married. Berger says she has an insatiable lust for Blomkvist although she goes home at night to her husband, Greger.

Blomkvist does not mind that Berger is married and seems to be satisfied with the nature of their relationship, which consists of regular trysts and occasional overnight stays. Greger does not object to the relationship and actually seems to like Blomkvist. Greger's only rule is that Berger must call home when she intends to spend the night with Blomkvist so that he will not worry.
