Summary

Chapter 10

Frans' luck runs out in this chapter as a hired mercenary is sent to kill him. The assassin comes through the window and kills Frans in front of August. Though the assassin had instructions to leave no witnesses, he can't kill a kid, and he leaves August rocking back and forth against the wall in the room.

Before he dies, Frans utters one word: disabled.

The focus shifts to Blomkvist. It is after two o'clock in the morning and as he gets out of the taxi he sees a police cruiser with two officers. One of the officers is standing outside of the car arguing with someone on the sidewalk. From the building another man, dressed in black, dashes out. Mikael instinctively dives for cover, shouting to the officers that there is a gun. They turn to pursue the man and Mikael...
