Style, not only infiltrates the underground world of pickup artists, but he actually becomes the head guru - for a time, at least. Style's exploits in the world of pickup are communicated with the verve and gusto of a Hollywood insider reporting on celebrities. Indeed, from Style's perspective, he and his friends are celebrities. Style provides "social proof" (a pickup term meaning validation of one's social status) by dropping celebrity names throughout his text. That the celebrities are not Hollywood's A-list does not deter Style from believing he is the most popular man in Hollywood.
Nor is Style deterred from believing his own hype by the fact that most of the celebrities he meets suffer manipulation at the hands of the pickup.....
