New York

New York is the setting for all of the action in the plot. The city is depicted as having gone through a major transformation in the past few decades. All of the crime and violence that plagued the city during the crack epidemic of the 80's had been pushed back. Even the worst neighborhoods were gentrified and full of Starbucks stores. But Malone and his team are the only things stopping the dormant violence from erupting back onto the streets. They see death and bodies and blood on a daily basis, and they believe that the people of New York do not have the stomachs to know what it takes to keep the city safe for them.
