Cassandra “Cassie” Bowden

Cassandra “Cassie” Bowden is the main character of the novel who becomes caught up in the murder of a Russian spy. Cassie, a flight attendant, often picked up men in the cities to which her airline flew so it was not unusual for Alex to ask her to dinner. Cassie liked to drink and party. She lived her life with few responsibilities and no deep connections. Cassie had lived through a troubled childhood as the daughter of an alcoholic father. She felt as if she was always overshadowed by the troubles that her father caused with his drinking. She remembers one birthday in particular when her mother knew the family did not have the money to host a birthday party for Cassie so she bought her a two-gallon tub of her favorite ice cream.
