Summary

In Chapter 16, outside the FBI office, Ani was clearly angry. When she asked Cassie what her plan was, Cassie begged Ani to allow her to get a drink. Ani warned Cassie that the coroner could confirm an approximate time of Alex’s death. She said if it was suspected Alex had died before 10:45 a.m. that Cassie was “fucked” (192). Ani did take Cassie to a bar where she allowed her to have a drink, but then told Cassie the truth, that she drank too much and tended to pass out drunk. She was also a liar. Cassie felt betrayed by Ani and worried Ani did not believe her. Ani relented and said she did believe that Cassie did not kill Alex, but that Cassie had made Ani’s job harder by lying.
