Chapters 32-35 Summary

Chapter 32

Rand and Aviendha make their way back to the gateway because neither of them knows for certain how to make another. They find it guarded by a party of Seanchan, including two damane. Aviendha shields the women and Rand holds the rest with the One Power. They attempt to remove one of the a'dam from a damane but are unsuccessful and flee through the gateway. Asmodean is waiting in Rand's chambers. He had hidden Aviendha's gateway from sight and told Sulin that Rand and Aviendha did not wish to be disturbed. As the gateway closes, a Seanchan soldier hurls a spear through it. The gateway snaps shut on the end of the spear, cutting it in half. Rand decides to keep the spear as a scepter to remind him that he must still deal with the Seanchan.
