Summary

At the beginning of Part Three, Margayya goes straight to the Town Bank. He is disdainful of the other costumers there, and hopes to make them his customers someday. Margayya has come to the Town Bank to open an account. Although the bank manager is initially hesitant, he changes his mind when he hears how much Margayya intends to invest.

Dr. Pal comes to see him one day. Dr. Pal announces that he has returned from “a little training in Tourism” (306). Margayya is confused by the concept of tourism. Dr. Pal then tells Margayya that there is a vacant place on his block. Margayya resolves to take it, despite its high price tag. Guru Raj, a blanket salesman, owns the block of buildings.
