Summary

In Chapter 13, the story returns to the second person point of view. The woman, named Tonkee, has decided to journey with you because she wants to observe Hoa. Hoa continues to direct Essun which way they should go based on the direction he senses that Nassun has traveled. As the weeks go by, Hoa has more and more trouble distinguishing Nassun because there are a lot of orogenes gathering in one place. Essun feels unease, but she continues to follow Hoa’s directions.

In Chapter 14, Syen and Alabaster are sent a message from the Fulcrum. The message tells them to stay in Allia. Syen paces the hotel room and wonders aloud why they are not being allowed to return. Alabaster offers no serious suggestions. Syen, however, feels like someone would want to talk to her about the strange power that she has realized...
