Summary

In Chapter 46, Phoebe returns to the Buddhist zen center, and the monk to whom she spoke earlier lets her borrow his van for her rescue mission. In Chapter 47, Phoebe drives the van back to the lodge that is down the mountain from the zen center. In Chapter 48, Phoebe uses a pay phone to call the police. She tells them about the two young women who were ritually killed by the Bears. Phoebe does not reveal her own identity. In Chapter 49, Phoebe drives the van to a car rental place in Montclair and temporarily exchanges it for a rented Jeep. In Chapter 50, Phoebe drives the Jeep to Heist’s office and finds that Melinda is still there. Phoebe asks Melinda to help her find Heist, and Melinda agrees to do so.
