Chapter 23 Summary

A couple days later, Hazel goes to Isaac's house. They play the video game together. Isaac asks her if she thinks it hurt when Gus died. He also says that Gus really loved Hazel. Isaac asks if he ever gave her the sequel to the book he was writing for her. Hazel questions Isaac about it because she doesn't know he was writing a sequel.

When Hazel gets in her car, she finds Peter in her backseat. It's a week later but he's still wearing the funeral suit and wreaks of alcohol. He apologizes to Hazel for being pathetic and for his problem with alcohol. He says Hazel reminds him of Anna. He tells the story of a six-year-old girl named Antonia who has her leg removed because of cancer.

Peter apologizes for ruining Hazel's trip and then he starts to cry. This...
