Summary

After many years, Tuor marries the king’s daughter Idril. They were the first union between Man and the elves. The wedding was a great celebration. However, a Gnome named Meglin, who is a quarryman and potentially part Orc, becomes jealous of Tuor, as Meglin wanted to marry Idril. After a few years, Tuor and Idril have a child they name Eärendel whose name has a meaning in a language lost to time. The son’s beauty causes even greater envy in Meglin.

Meanwhile, Melko brings together his army of orcs, determined to find the Tuor and Gondolin. He summons multitudes of animals to act as his spies. The creatures work for years and eventually threaten some Nodoli to open the passageway to Gondolin. However, no one can cross the plains without being shot down by the guard’s arrows. Eärendel...
