Summary

Violet falls asleep and Lucy leaves, but she runs into Shaw outside the building. She asks Shaw if he is in love with Violet, and Shaw responds that Lucy has unrealistic expectations of love. He offers to pay for her cab, then realizes he does not have any money. He rings Violet's buzzer and begs to be let in. Much to Lucy's surprise, Violet acquiesces. Still in her prom dress, Lucy walks through Times Square and then boards the subway. She is standing at the front of the subway car looking out the window and contemplating the way the city is in a constant state of flux, when she witnesses a woman jump in front of the train.
